Digitay Round 2: Data Visualisation for Collaboration in Work

January 2026

Following the first Digitay3D programme, 3DNovations delivered a second Digitay project focused on data visualisation for collaboration in the workplace.

Delivered from January to March 2026, the project created a structured learning pathway that allowed participants to progress through Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels according to their existing experience, confidence and pace.

The programme combined structured online learning, tutor support, live sessions, practical activities and assessment through an in house learning management system developed by HIVE-RD and operated by 3DNovations.

The final cohort consisted of 28 participants, with 25 recording active participation and 22 completing at least one course level. Together, learners achieved 53 course completions and 53 certificates.

Building on the first Digitay programme

The original Digitay3D project explored inclusive digital skills development through immersive environments, digital twins, community projects and practical experience.

Round 2 developed that approach into a more structured learning programme.

Rather than requiring every participant to follow the same route, the course was divided into three progressive levels.

Beginner provided the core knowledge and practical skills needed to understand data visualisation in a workplace context.

Intermediate extended this knowledge and introduced greater application of the skills.

Advanced provided additional challenge and consolidation for participants ready to progress further.

A structured digital learning environment

3DNovations delivered the programme through a learning management system.

The platform provided structured lessons, activities and end of course assessments while maintaining a clear record of learner engagement and progression.

Tutor support and live sessions complemented the online learning, giving participants opportunities to ask questions, discuss the material and receive support while progressing through the programme.

The result was a learning model that combined the flexibility of online study with direct human support and measurable assessment.

Exceeding the funded target

The funded target required 10 Beginner course completions.

Digitay Round 2 achieved 21 Beginner completions, meaning the programme reached 210 percent of its funded target, or exceeded the target by 110 percent.

The programme also showed strong progression beyond the introductory level.

Of 24 learners who started Beginner, 21 completed, giving a completion rate of 87.5 percent.

Of 21 learners who started Intermediate, 20 completed, giving a completion rate of 95.2 percent.

Of 20 learners who started Advanced, 12 completed, giving a completion rate of 60 percent.

Measuring learning

Each course included an end of course assessment.

Assessment results were recorded within the learning management system, providing evidence not only that learners had participated but that they had demonstrated understanding of the course material.

Average best assessment scores were also strong, at 84.5 percent for Beginner, 92 percent for Intermediate and 88.3 percent for Advanced.

Designing for inclusion

Accessibility was built into the programme and independently reviewed.

The cohort included nine neurodivergent learners and nine women, while participants from minority ethnic backgrounds also took part.

Autus carried out an independent accessibility and inclusion review, including user testing with people connected to Autus CIO.

The review identified several strengths within the platform.

These included dyslexia friendly typography, adjustable text sizing, compatibility with screen readers, a predictable interface without unexpected pop ups and learning content divided into manageable sections with limited unnecessary technical jargon.

Learning from accessibility testing

The purpose of the accessibility review was not simply to confirm what already worked.

It also identified areas for future development.

One recommendation was the introduction of a low sensory mode, allowing users to reduce visual stimulation quickly.

The review also recommended using encouraging progress messages and recognising collective achievement rather than placing unnecessary pressure on learners through individual progress indicators.

This gave 3DNovations practical evidence that could be incorporated into future development of the learning platform.

Supporting people already in work

Digitay Round 2 was not solely an employability programme for people seeking their first role.

24 of the 28 participants were already in some form of employment.

This meant the programme also addressed continuing professional development and workplace digital skills.

Participants could develop greater confidence with data visualisation and digital collaboration while applying that knowledge within their existing professional context.
